Yo-yo tricks, voice impersonations and character sketches were all part of the performance. The message of “Never Give Up, Encourage Others, and Do Your Best” (NED) was stressed throughout the performance. After the show, students were given the opportunity to purchase a yo-yo in order to learn the tricks displayed by Ian. BETHEL TOWNSHIP - Bethel Locals Schools were “approved with conditions” for the state of Ohio’s Race to the Top Grant that was being offered this year. Bethel was one of 98 schools that were “approved with conditions” for this grant. Six school districts were “approved” outright with no revisions necessary and there were 396 submissions from schools all over Ohio that were “Returned for Revision.” Twenty-eight schools withdrew their submission. Bethel has until the spring to update their application with the revisions necessary to become officially approved for the grant on all accounts. The Race to the Top is a strategy for the next four years to drive change and to propel education to the next level. The goals are to reduce achievement gaps, increase high school graduation rates, and to increase enrollment. It is a transformative work that will result in Ohio students realizing greater successes in school and life. “The whole idea of this is to transform education in the state of Ohio,” said Superintendent Jeff Cassell. The Race to the Top grant is a Federal grant. Ohio received $400 million for Ohio education over the next four years. “Ohio is lining up with the national standards,” said Cassell. |
