Township meeting 
 
TIPP CITY - The regular meeting of the Monroe Township trustees scheduled for Monday, Sept. 6 will be moved to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7 in the Monroe Township meeting room due to the Labor Day holiday.

Democratic meeting
 
TIPP CITY - The Miami County Democratic Party will hold a special Central Committee meeting at 8 p.m. Sept. 7 at 546 Michael Place. 
The purpose of the meeting is to allow interested Democratic candidates who wish to run for the judge seat vacated by Judge Welbaum to present themselves to Central Committee. A vote will then be taken to place a candidate on the ballot for the November election.

Colon cancer support 
 
TROY - The Colon Cancer Support Group will meet Sept. 9 at the UVMC Farmhouse on the grounds of the Upper Valley Medical Center.
The support group is for those patients who have colon cancer, or their families. A social time will begin at 12:30 p.m. followed by the meeting from 1-2 p.m.
 
The group, sponsored by the UVMC Cancer Care Center, normally meets the second Thursday of each month.

Big tree contest
 
TIPP CITY - The Tipp City Tree Board is again searching for Tipp City’s biggest trees. The 2010 Big Tree Contest is going to give recognition to the biggest Oak tree within the city limits. The tree does not have to be in your yard. 
 
The winning tree will be verified by the City Tree Board. Trees will be judged based on height, circumference and average canopy area. 
 
Nominate your favorite Oak tree on the form online at www.tippcityohio.gov or stop by the government center and pick up a form. Specific measuring instructions will be attached to the form. The deadline for entries is Sept. 8. The winner will be announced during Mum Festival week.

Veteran’s bricks
 
TIPP CITY - The final date for 2010 applictions for brick pavers for Veteran’s Memorial Park is Sept. 10. Pavers ordered by this date will be installed by Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
 
The tan bricks are available in two sizes: four by eight inches with three lines of text for $53.25 or eight by eight inches with six lines of text for $213. 
 
Applicants/honorees must be veterans and have some connection to Tipp City/Monroe Township.
 
Applications are available at the City Government Center, Tipp-Monroe Community Services and at www.tippcityohio.gov. Make checks payable to the City of Tipp City. For more information call the service department at 937-667-6305.

WACO Wag-In
 
TROY - WACO Air Field is going to the dogs when they host a fun-filled day for owners and their dogs Sept. 11. 
 
There will be obedience show and go, doggy fashion show, dog trick contest, Miami County police K9 demonstration, microchip clinic and much more. All dogs must be on a leach, no retractable leashes allowed.
