TROY — The Oak Ridge Boys will be back in Ohio — specifically Troy — for Christmas this year for a holiday concert at Hobart Arena on Dec. 18. This will be one of only two stops in Ohio during this special holiday tour.

The award-winning group has been together for more than 30 years and was inducted into The Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

Bass vocalist Richard Sterban said the group’s set for the Troy show will include a mix of Christmas music and the group’s greatest hits.

“‘The Boys are Back for Christmas’ is the title of the tour and believe it or not it’s our 23rd annual Christmas tour,” Sterban said. “The Christmas tour has gotten to where it is a big part of our year, it is something that has grown over the years.”

The Oak Ridge Boys — which also includes members William Lee Golden, Duane Allen and Joe Bonsall — began the Christmas tour this year in early November — taking the stage Nov. 9 in Branson, MO. The 19-state, two-month tour will conclude on Dec. 21, returning to Nashville, TN for the first time in ten years at the Gaylord Opryland Resort.

“We’ve been doing partial Christmas shows, but now it will be full blown Christmas shows,” Sterban said.

MVCTC Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps students perform reveille on the MVCTC campus in honor of Veterans Day.

CLAYTON – The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) held its annual observance of Veterans Day starting Monday, Nov. 8. Staff and students across the school contributed to a meaningful and moving day with many activites.

Seniors Danny Dawes (West Carrollton), Deandre Dunson (Northmont), Sam Newman (Milton-Union), Rebecka Phillips (Wayne) and Ryan Walker (Milton-Union) from Mr. Pat Carlisle’s Interactive Multi-Media Development Tech Prep class created the video and PowerPoint products that you can see at http://ctctube.com.

A reveille was performed by the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps and there were posters honoring veterans on the MVCTC staff and messages regarding Veterans Day sent by e-mail and on the video sign board. Global Issues teacher Robin Speer worked with her students to research, create and distribute red paper poppies for staff in honor of Veterans Day.

Humanities Supervisor, Lona Bowman, organizes all events scheduled at MVCTC on Veterans Day. She does a wonderful job of honoring our veterans and getting the entire school involved in observing Veterans Day.
